Homer Anderson
was born in Pennsylvania in 1897. He enlisted in the Army in 1917 and was assigned to the Signal Corps, training as an observer in a balloon squadron. The balloon program was disbanded when it was determined that balloons were too easily spotted and shot down. He remained in the U.S. for the duration of the war. He worked for 45 years as a civil engineer before his retirement 42 years ago.

Mr. Anderson passed away on September 23, 2006.
