Samuel Goldberg
was born in Poland in 1900 and his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was five years old. At the outbreak of World War I he joined the U.S. Army Signal Corps and later the cavalry. A skilled marksman, he served at Fort Hatchita, New Mexico and at forts along the U.S. / Mexican border. He lives in Rhode Island.
